Passionate, soulful and dynamic, Mount Kujo is a Melbourne, Australia based band, blending Psychedelic Funk, Jazz, Latin and Afro-beat techniques into a vibrant, eclectic and sexy sound.

Using exciting and spellbinding arrangements of polyrhythms, unexpected tonal changes and explosive horn sections, this vibrant collective of diverse musicians will have audiences transfixed from the first note.
Mount Kujo is an international touring band with festival appearances including Fusion (Germany), Tanglewood, Dragon Dreaming, Port Fairy Folk Festival, and Castlemaine Jazz Festival (Australia). They've also brought their high-energy shows to iconic Australian venues such as The Night Cat, The Toff in Town, The Gaso, 24 Moons, and Stay Gold.
In 2020 the jazz collective released "Live at Bar Oussou", followed by the release of their first two studio albums 'Mount Kujo I' and ‘Cosmic Cliffs’ in 2022 and 2023 (digital + vinyl.)
The band have also graduated their artistic vision into mixed media, with a neo-noir video clip for their cinematic jazz single Mr Pink celebrating Melbourne’s more shadowy corners. Expanding their visual storytelling, they released a surreal, psychedelic video for Dower Pub, featuring vivid colours, flocks of birds, stark industrial landscapes, and Earth Hum trekking through remote Australian bushlands, eventually boarding a steam train bound for a performance at the Castlemaine Jazz Festival. Complementing these ambitious visuals is a high-energy live clip of Canyon’s Edge filmed at the Northcote Social Club, as well as an intimate studio video accompanying their debut single Orientation, capturing the raw beginnings of their distinctive sound.
The results of these efforts are apparent in the way Mount Kujo has become more than just a band to expect riveting orchestration and engaging dance shows from; it's become a musical fraternity with an ever-developing philosophy, working in real time to achieve artistic goals, taking their steer from other communal projects such as Funkadelic, Pink Floyd or Snarky Puppy.
The group approaches each concert as a chance to live-tweak their compositions and are always eager to lock into the energy of the animated groove of dancing crowds. The band’s dedication to musicality, composition and genre fusions have resulted in their sound becoming increasingly unique, recognisable and a crowd favourite.
Mount Kujo’s cosmic vision of compelling dancefloor jazz, constant experimentation and band members from all over the world, make them one of the hottest and most interesting bands coming out of Australia right now.
